COVID-19: Only 10 new cases, lowest daily infection record

Malaysia recorded only 10 new cases of COVID-19 infection until 12 noon Thursday, making it the lowest number of daily cases to date.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all the cases were of local transmission, with five of those involving foreigners.

No cases of death were recorded within the last 24 hours.

"As at noon on May 28, 10 new cases have been reported. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 7,629 cases.

"The total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,345 cases. They have been isolated and treated.

"From the latest information reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), no COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded today.

"Thus, the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remains 115 cases, which is 1.51 per cent of the total number of cases.

"Please note that all 10 new cases reported are local, with five cases being non-Malaysian.

"No import cases have been transmitted from overseas," he told a daily media conference on the development of the COVID-19 outbreak here on Thursday.

In addition, he said, 86 cases have recovered and allowed to be discharged today, bringing the total number of cases fully recovered from COVID-19 to 6,169 cases or 80.9 per cent of the total cases.
