COVID-19: Only five new cases, no local transmission - Dr Noor Hisham
Dr Noor Hisham said that the latest developments brought the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country to 9,240, while the total number of active cases with infectivity stood at 183. - BERNAMA
Only five new COVID-19 positive cases have been recorded until noon today, all of which are imported cases, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said that the latest developments brought the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country to 9,240, while the total number of active cases with infectivity stood at 183.
According to him, the five imported cases involved two Malaysians and three foreigners.
"The cases are from Japan (four cases in Sarawak) and Bangladesh (one case in Selangor). No local transmission cases were reported today," he said in a statement here today.
He added that seven cases have recovered today making the cumulative number of cases that have fully recovered from COVID-19 is 8,932 which is 96.7 percent of the total cases.
He said that thus far there were seven COVID-19 positive cases being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which four cases needed respiratory assistance.
There is no increase in COVID-19-related deaths reported today, and the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths thus far remains at 125, which is 1.35 per cent of total cases, he said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health via its official Twitter post stated that three clusters are deemed to have ended, namely, the Elsa Cluster, Stutong Cluster and the Al-Khobar PUI Cluster, bringing the total number of clusters which have ended to 82.
