KUCHING:The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) is conducting contact tracing efforts after recording three latest COVID-19 positive cases including one involving an illegal.
JPBN, in a statement yesterday said, the illegal, from Kalimantan, Indonesia, was detained when he entered Sarawak via a rat trail on the Malaysia-Indonesia border in the Lundu district near here, on Dec 23.
"The man underwent COVID-19 screening on Dec 24 and was tested positive although he did not have any symptom and admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment," JPBN said.
JPBN said the second case involved a Thai man who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, a high-risk COVID-19 infection area, to Miri on Dec 21 and tested positive for the disease two days later.
He was currently receiving treatment at the Miri Hospital, it added.
Meanwhile, JPBN said a Bangladeshi man who arrived at the Kuching Airport on Thursday from Kuala Lumpur was found positive with COVID-19 on the same day and was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital.
The three cases had brought the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Sarawak to 1,099 cases, JPBN added.
