COVID-19: Two more clusters detected in Selangor - Health DG

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the new clusters identified were the Seri Setia Cluster and Seri Anggerik Cluster.

“The Seri Setia Cluster has been detected in Seri Setia, Selangor as well as in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. The index case of this cluster (case 10,927) is a 36-year-old Malaysian man with a history of travel to Semporna, Sabah from Sept 16 to 20.

“He has had symptoms since Sept 21 and tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept 27. The case was later admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital. Following that, close contact screening was conducted and three more positive cases for this cluster were identified,” he said in a press conference development of COVID-19 today.

Dr Noor Hisham said that all the positive cases linked to the cluster involved locals and they were also admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

As at 12 noon today, a total of 23 individuals were screened for the cluster and the screening results found four of them positive, while 14 individuals were detected negative and five individuals are still awaiting results.

Meanwhile, for the Seri Anggerik Cluster detected in Hulu Selangor, Selangor, the index case for this cluster (case 10,776) is a 37-year-old local man with a history of travel to Sabah from Sept 9 to 18.

“He started having symptoms on Sept 25 and was screened. After being tested positive on Sept 26, he was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital. Following that, close contact screening was conducted and 14 more positive COVID-19 cases for the Seri Anggerik Cluster were identified positive, all involving Malaysians.

“They have also been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. As at 12 noon today, a total of 67 individuals have been screened (for the Seri Anggerik Cluster),” he said adding that the screening results found 14 detected positive while 15 individuals were confirmed negative and 38 individuals are still awaiting results.

The cause of infection for these two clusters is still under investigation.
