Meanwhile, Ahmad Amzad said Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has given its assurance that there would be no power supply disruption which can affect the storage of COVID-19 vaccine especially the Pfizer-BioNTech which requires a temperature of -70 degrees Celcius.

He said a discussion was held with TNB last week to ensure adequate back-up plan against any power failure.

“We do not want what happened in Japan, which I understand 1,000 doses of vaccine were disposed of when electricity supply was suddenly cut off . We hope such an incident would not happen here.

“TNB has provided a list of officers in charge in each area if a power failure occurs,” he said.

In another development, the Deputy Minister said media organisations can send their applications to the government to be entered as media practitioners in the list of frontliners under phase one.

He said the matter would be discussed at the PICK committee and any decision on the matter would be announced soon.
