COVID-19 vaccines reduce deaths by 88%
A study led by the Institute of Clinical Research on 14.5 million fully vaccinated individuals in Malaysia found that COVID-19 vaccines can prevent death by 88 percent - File Pic
KUALA LUMPUR: Complete inoculation with COVID-19 vaccines can prevent death by 88 percent, according to findings of a study led by the Institute of Clinical Research (ICR)
According to ICR director Dr Kalaiarasu Peariasamy, the study also found that the vaccines is 83 percent effective against admission into intensive care.
The study was conducted on 14.5 million fully vaccinated individuals in Malaysia who received the AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Sinovac vaccines.

  • Complete vaccinations can reduce one death for every 97 persons infected
  • Citing a report by the British Medical Journal, Dr Kalaiarasu said unvaccinated people are 11 times at risk of death from the Delta variant.
