The appearance of a crocodile near the Kampung Kelanang fisherman's jetty has raised questions on whether any of the 20 victims still missing in the boat tragedy in Sungai Air Hitam last Tuesday could have been eaten by the reptile.
Acting Selangor Fishermen's Association Chairman Mohd Jaman Haris said people may have differing assumptions regarding the remaining victims who have yet to be found.
"Several local fishermen found the crocodile in the river near the jetty, however I can't say what happened because none of use know what really happened," he said when met on Saturday.
Mohd Jaman, who has been a fisherman for the past 20 years, stressed that the type of crocodile found was a fresh water species and it was impossible that such a crocodile would enter the sea.
Meanwhile, Kuala Langat Police Chief Supt Azman Abdul Razak said they have yet to receive any reports on crocodile attacks at the jetty area.
