The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has pledged to fight for the rights and welfare of civil servants including salary increment, bonus and other benefits.
Its president Datuk Azih Muda said salary hike and bonus were in line with the burden shouldered by civil servants currently.
"Even though there was salary increase, the increment was little and was inadequate for those with additional responsibilities.
"So their expenses were insufficient and if the government did not provide assistance especially during Ramadan, it would give civil servants further pressure," he told Bernama after attending a Session between Civil Servants and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir at Kuala Kangsar Malay College here, on Friday.
Asked if Cuepacs had made its claim for raya bonus from the government, he said the union had not met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to discuss the matter.
"Cuepacs had asked the government to consider the matter and asked for at least a month's bonus," he said.
