CUEPACS urges government to announce salary increase and bonus immediately
Cuepacs leadership would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of civil servants in the country.
The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) has urged the government to announce immediately the salary increase for civil servants.
Its president Datuk Azih Muda said the salary increase must be an improvement of the present one as employees in the public sector in this country were faced with a big disparity between the high cost of living and the salary received.
"The civil servants are asking when the government will announce the salary increase, will there be a bonus during this fasting month or not.
"This is the best time for the government to announce an increase in salary, allowance, regional allowance as well as improvements in the 252 salary schemes and allowances for civil servants to lighten their burden in the current economic situation," he said when speaking at the Labour Day Appreciation Ceremony 2015 and the Gawai Day Dinner 2015 here last night.
He said although the country's current financial situation was not very stable but this was not an excuse for the government not to announce a salary increase for civil servants who had shown their commitment in performing their duties and responsibilities.
Azih said the Cuepacs leadership would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of civil servants in the country.
