Cure & Care Service Centre has positive impact on crime in Chow Kit
The establishment of a Cure & Care Service Centre (CCSC) under the supervision of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Chow Kit, here, has had a positive impact of reduced crime rates in the area.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said according to police sources, up to March, only 236 people were caught for drug-related offences.
"The centre is seen as having a positive effect on combating social problems and crime involving drug addiction," he told reporters after a visit to the CCSC in Chow Kit today.
During the hour-long walkabout, Ahmad Zahid also visited the Sinar Teratak Afidah shelter home which houses women involved in social ills such as prostitution and drug addiction.
He said Yayasan Al-Bukhari had agreed to contribute RM5 million to the AADK, non-governmental organisations and individuals to assist drug addicts, former sex workers and street children get a better life.
