The new Cyberjaya Master Plan will focus on forming a holistic technology ecosystem comprising commercial and digital activities.
According to Cyberview Sdn Bhd managing director Najib Ibrahim, the master plan envisions Cyberjaya as being the preferred investment destination for technology companies as well as citywide technology adoption to strengthen Cyberjaya's position as a smart city.
"It also foresees catalysing technology and innovation for the nation's future economy by cultivating a robust and well-developed ecosystem for existing and potential tech players," he told Bernama after appearing in 'Mid day Update' on Bernama TV today.
Cyberview was recently given the mandate by the government to spearhead the development of Cyberjaya and strengthen its position as a technology hub developer.
Najib said Cyberjaya, known to be the nucleus of the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) for 23 years, is currently focusing on three new technology clusters namely Smart Mobility, Smart Healthcare and Digital Creative.
He said by allowing new technologies to be developed, tested and piloted in Cyberjaya, the company encourages healthy experimentation of smart city solutions among talents.
"Smart Mobility is offering high-speed connected transportation with innovations including Autonomous and Electric Vehicle, Intelligent Transport System and drones.
"Smart healthcare emphasises on the incorporation of artificial intelligence, robotics, Internet of Things, big data, and using medical robots to reduce the risk of cross-infection.
"Meanwhile for Digital Creative, the demand for creative industries is robust and many animation studios are developing popular animation brands such as Boboiboy and Ejen Ali," he said.
He said Cyberjaya currently has a high concentration of tech-based companies ranging from start-up to multinational corporations.
"Besides, Cyberjaya is geographically divided into four zones, each with its own characteristics. West Cyberjaya is the centre to produce skilled talent, North Cyberjaya focuses on smart city solutions.
"South Cyberjaya is the centre for innovation for all three clusters, while downtown Cyberjaya focuses on the adoption of technology for commercial activities and integration into community lifestyle," he said.
Najib explained that all four districts come together with a singular aim of driving the development of Cyberjaya towards becoming a vibrant global technology hub.
"Cyberview will determine the best land-use composition for each cluster, with the goal of meeting each cluster's goal while maximising land use and sale-ability. We are open to companies that are already in Asia, as well as companies that are looking to expand to Asia for the first time.
"Strategically located in the heart of Southeast Asia, Malaysia's robust, diversified economy has proven to be very attractive to foreign investors, business and multinational companies," he added.
