KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and singer Dafi, 36, who looks much slimmer now, denies having undergone bariatric surgery or a gastric bypass, attributing his weight loss to a healthy diet and watching what he eats.

Dafi, 36, whose real name is Gadaffi Ismail Sabri, said he has been following a healthier lifestyle after his involvement in the filming of the movie 'Malbatt: Misi Baskara' two years ago.

"I started losing weight since working on that movie. Now I'm doing my best to stay slim. Maybe right now, I appear too thin but that's because I just recovered from a fever and cough.

"I don't even know how much I weigh now... this is because I have a phobia of weighing myself. I used to be bigger during my schooldays. So, even now, I'm really scared to step on a scale," he told reporters after the opening of the fifth branch of the jewelry store Merchant9, officiated by his father former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, here recently.

The former star of 'Akademi Fantasia' Season 5 said he can gauge his weight loss just by the size of the pants he wears.

Meanwhile, Dafi is actively promoting his latest song 'Hellooo!', composed by Shazee Ishak with lyrics written by Altimet.

"I'm happy to be entertaining my fans again after nearly 10 years without releasing any new song, and this is also a way to inform them that I'm still singing.

"Actually, I recorded this song ('Hellooo!') a while ago and it was supposed to be released in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

The 'Bila Terasa Rindu' singer is also running a business, which he started last year, offering drone services.
