The attempts by Daish militants to kidnap several state leaders, are believed aimed at raising funds to spread and expand their ideologies.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the police believed the group was willing to do anything to achieve that goal.
"The threat by Daish is serious, and the police will fight the group wherever they are, to ensure they do not spread propaganda in this country," he told reporters here, today.
He also assured that the country remained safe and secure, and the police were enhancing efforts to monitor the group.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Home Minister, revealed that besides Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and himself, were also being targeted by the group.

Commenting on the experiment materials which were thought to be bombs at Aquaria, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Wednesday, he said the students who left the objects in question, had no malicious intentions.
According to him, the police always tried to ensure public places and iconic locations in the country were well monitored.
Earlier, he attended a passing out parade for the Police Basic Training Program, Cadet Sergeants Series 1/2015, at Maktab PDRM Kuala Kubu Baharu, near here.
At the event, a total of 491 cadets, comprising 387 men and 104 women successfully completed their nine-month training session.
