In view of the announcement by the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar that the nefarious attack against the Movido nightclub in Puchong, and that two suspects of the Dhaka café slaughter had studied at Monash University Malaysia campus, the MCA Religious Harmony Bureau calls on all that it is time to beef up security.
Malaysians must not take for granted our peaceful and harmonious existence for decades.
We need to work harder and closer with the police authorities who have been empowered and given the responsibility to uphold and maintain our peace and security.

Private entities especially targeted entities and locations like entertainment centres must now allocate a higher budget and cost to protect the public and the customers.
Of late this peace and harmony has been threatened socially and politically.
The threat by Daish is real and their presence, network and organisations are of serious concerns not just to ordinary citizens but to the security forces as well.
We should also be mindful not to provoke or challenge them to act or react as we are dealing with a culture totally alien to us.
There must be more focus, concern and a closer cooperation between the public and the police to face this new threat to our peace, harmony and security.
Bipartisan support needed – Anyone can end up victim of terrorism
Politicians especially the Opposition must stop creating hatred or distrust towards the police just to score political brownie pointers at the expense of the police efficiency due to lack of public cooperation as a result of the hate aroused or distrust created.
Combating Daish requires bipartisan co-operation irrespective of political inclination because experience shows that to maximise carnage and destruction, militants strike at any hour, anywhere, particularly at crowded places where tourists, diners or people going to work or school are gathered eg airports, railway stations and coaches and any form of public transport, schools, entertainment outlets, cafes, stadiums.
Hence, it is uncalled for for PKR President Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah to question or find fault with the ability of the police.
The main point is that the IGP has quickly come out forthright to correct the Selangor police who initially ruled out terrorism attributing the explosion to gang rivalry.
Even more honest, the IGP admitted that 2 suspects hail from within PDRM.
Not only are the people's security and lives at stake but our guardians, the police are also targeted and are under siege.
It is time for all to band together to face this real and serious new threat to the nation's peace and harmony.
