Both the DAP and PKR have been deemed insolent for submitting only one name to replace Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim despite being ordered to provide at least two names.

To date, the two parties had submitted the name of PKR's president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Abdul Khalid.

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said the Ruler is deeply saddened that the two parties did not heed his decree on August 27 to submit more than one name for the MB post.

In a press statement, Mohamad Munir confirmed that the palace had received the list of candidates from the three parties, but only PAS obliged to the Sultan’s orders by submitting three names.

Mohamad Munir said the Ruler will study the list of names given to him.

“But, at the same time, since the appointment of MB is the prerogative of the Sultan, the Ruler will also go through the names of other PKR state assemblyman who the Ruler believe is qualified and can command the confidence of the majority,” the statement read.

The Sultan had deferred the acceptance of Abdul Khalid’s resignation until a new MB is named and had requested each Pakatan Rakyat component party to submit two names as the possible candidate.

The Ruler also want the next MB to be a Malay, a Muslim and comply to the laws of the state of Selangor.
