DAP held emergency meeting to discuss ROS directive

The DAP held an emergency meeting in Kuala Lumpur Monday night to discuss the directive from the Registration of Societies Department (ROS) that it holds fresh elections.

Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said today the central executive committee (CEC) meeting to discuss the next course of action after the ROS in a letter dated August 7 directed the DAP to hold fresh elections for CEC members.

The DAP had replied to the showcause letter from the ROS which was dissatisfied with the party's explanation but it did not receive any response.

"We are ready to hold fresh elections if the ROS can give reasons and provisions of the law that allow it to direct us to hold the elections."

Lim told reporters the DAP would only abide by the ROS directive if it gave reasons why it was dissatisfied with the party's explanation on CEC elections on December 15 last year.
