A former managing director of a company and a businessman claimed trial in the Sessions Court Jalan Duta, her today to making false claims amounting to RM1.116 million.
Datuk Koay Teng Keong of Gadang Engineering Sdn Bhd and Teh Yean Teong, owner of transportation company Deutsche Direct Sdn Bhd were alleged to have made the false claims through two invoices in relation to logistical projects involving 200 units of tipper truck.
Koay, 57 and Teh, 51 were accused of committing the offences on March 2010 at the Gadang Engineering office.
Judge Allaudeen Ismail set bail at RM80,000 on one surety for each of the accused and ordered them to surrender their passports to the court.
The judge fixed December 18 for re-mention of the case.
The prosecution was handled by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution officer Wan Ahmad Nidzam Wan Omar while the accused were represented by counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.
The accused were charged under Section 18 of the MACC Act and punishable under Section 24 of the same Act with a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine of at least five times the sum involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.
