Datuk Mohd Amar Nik agrees to vie for deputy president post

Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said he had agreed to vie for the PAS deputy president post due to the wishes of the grassroots.
Mohd Amar said the contest should not be labelled as a clash between ulama and professionals as the person who triumphed had a duty to restore the Malays confidence in PAS which had eroded in the 13th general election (GE-13).
"I am joining the contest after studying the political development after GE-13 and the wishes of the grassroots who want me to go for the post.
"Now, it is up to the delegates to decide and I offer them a choice," he told news conference at his office Sunday.
He brushed aside a claim that he did not have the clout at the national level after being defeated twice in the vice-presidential race.
Mohd Amar said if he were to win the post he would help PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang restore the Malay support in the party.
