Datuk Seri among 12 charged with rioting

Twelve individuals including a 'Datuk Seri' claimed trial in the Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of rioting.
The accused are Tan Ban Chuan, 46; Loh Peng Kok, 35; Ng Hao Ning, 29; Muhamad Naim Abdull Rahman, 18; J.Shatheeswaran, 24; N.Kartiga, 26; Curtis Veeran, 19; Tan Teong Boon, 24; Teoh Chee Seng, 36; Siow Peir Sheng, 24; Teoh Kim Teik, 20; and Tan Kai Chong, 21.
They are jointly charged with committing the offence with others still at large in Room E3, Suncity KTV Mindland, Jalan Burma here at 3.58am on March 18.
The charge under Section 147 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two years imprisonment or a fine or both, on conviction.
Magistrate Mohamed Amin Shahul Hamid set RM3,000 as bail with one surety each, and May 5 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Fatin Hussin appeared for the prosecution while counsel RSN Rayer represented the 12 accused.
