"Datuk Seri" detained for having link with Sultanate of Sulu

“Datuk Seri” Clarence Luing Karl @ Muhammad Khalil John L.Karl, 57, who was sought by police for having link with Sultanate of Sulu, was detained yesterday.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib, when contacted by Astro Awani, confirmed the arrest that was conducted at a flat house in Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu.

“The man was arrested together with his wife aged 55 and his adopted son at 10.30pm,” said Hamza.

Police received a tip-off from the public about the suspect’s whereabouts after they released his photofit during a press conference in Lahad Datu yesterday. The press conference was chaired by Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang.

The trio are now in custody at a lockup at Kota Kinabalu Police Station for further investigation under Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
