Day 13 of Ops Daulat

Leftenan General Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim told reporters at a media conference in Lahad Datu today that one Sulu terrorist was killed by the security forces in a clash with the group this morning at Kampung Tanjung Batu.

The clash between the security forces and a group of four terrorists, started at 9.55am and one of them was shot dead at 10.15am.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said that the remnants of the armed group are now moving in small units and warned the public not to enter the operation zone.

He added the forensic team has completed almost 80 per cent of the post mortem on the dead bodies of the Sulu gunmen killed in the Ops Daulat gun battle.

During the media conference, Hamza said that a total of 104 people have been detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) while 241 people have been detained under various other Acts.

Hamza added that the security forces are expected to declare Kampung Tanjung Batu, where the mopping and flushing Ops Daulat operation is currently underway, to be completely clean and safe tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Semporna division’s chairman Datuk Seri Nasir Sakaran today said the Parliament’s Umno division is confident the 13th General Election will be conducted without any major mishaps.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad suggest suitability weaponry including logistics need to be taken into consideration so that the country's security forces get the proper military equipment.
