Day 16 of Ops Daulat
Eight Filipino men were charged in a temporary Magistrate Court at Lahad Datu police headquarters for waging war against Yang DiPertuan Agong and involvement in terrorism activity.
Suspects aged between 17 and 67 were charged under Section 130 of the Penal Code for being members of a terrorist group and under Section 121 of the same act for waging a war against the Yang DiPertuan Agong.
It was the first charge being carried out in the midst of the Sulu terrorist’s intrusion in Lahad Datu.
The case however has been transferred to Tawau High Court mention.
Deputy-Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the autopsy on the 28 bodies of Sulu terrorist have been completed to avoid any health hazard factor and insufficient spaces at Hospital Lahad Datu and Hospital Tawau morgues. All the bodies will be buried temporarily at an undisclosed location.
Chief of Malaysian Army, General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said the ‘mopping-out’ operation by security forces in Tanjung Batu will be going on for a few more days before residents are allowed to return back to their homes.
Meanwhile one more enemy’s body was discovered and it is believed the man was killed during a firefight with security forces on March 6.
The body will be retrieved out from the area today.
