Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has allocated RM2.44 billion for its 2015 Budget.
Of the figure, RM1.63 billion is for management while RM812.54 million is meant for development.
Announcing the DBKL budget on Tuesday, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said there was an overall increase of 2.1 percent (RM2.39 billion) in the budget as compared to last year, taking into account the amendment in the Supplementary Budget 2014.
"The 2015 Budget has considered the views and ideas of city folks and community leaders in its programmes, activities or projects which will have a better effect on all parties.
"The ideas and suggestions provided input and additional information to help the planning for the DBKL Budget to be more realistic, taking into consideration the actual needs of the people," he said in a press conference at his office here on Wednesday.
Themed 'Kuala Lumpur of the People', DBKL has outlined four main strategic frameworks - City of the People, Economic Prosperity, Competitive Society and Eco City and Efficient Administrative City.
Ahmad Phesal said DBKL expected to earn a revenue of RM2.07 billion, with assessment tax being the main income earner contributing 48.3 percent of its total income.
"A valuation assessment of all properties to be implemented next year on 500,000 units in the city is expected to raise assessment income by RM70 million a year," he said.
He added that DBKL had allocated RM116.8 million for the resurfacing of public roads, housing areas and lanes.
"A total of RM253 million has been allocated for building and upgrading main roads. At the same time, RM168.1 million has been allocated for the development of drainage and river maintenance, including for flood-mitigation," he said.
To combat the dengue epidemic and problems caused by mosquitoes and rats, a total of RM6.4 million has been allocated.
Ahmad Phesal said in general, the 2015 budget was a balanced budget with an estimated RM447.64 million channeled for development.
