DBKL to revoke licences of traders who rent out business, premises to foreigners

The licences of traders who rented out their premises or licences to foreigners would be revoked, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Tengku Adnan said the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) was monitoring the situation where traders are said to have rented out their stalls or business premises to foreigners.

He said the licence or stall was not for foreigners to rent or own because such business opportunities were reserved for Malaysians.

"We will take stern action against traders who were given DBKL stalls or business premises but rent them out to foreigners.

"I will personally go to certain locations to check the situation," he told reporters after opening the Federal Territory level Christmas Day Open house, here today when asked about an influx of foreigners monopolising business premises in the city.

Also present were his deputy Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan and the ministry's director-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikshan.
