DC Says: If you think you're maxed out at work, think again.

So you are on a plane, and it is nerve-wrecking, for so many reasons. But when you think about it, there are more accidents on the road, and more people die behind and in front of the wheel than... potential car buyers testing the car they want by kicking the tyres. Yes, all facts.
And then the turbulence hits and all you can do is pray. All this time, the crew soldiers on. It's just another day in the office. So I distract myself and think of the office... bad move. My brain freezes from the amount on my plate. It's bad because I get more anxious than ever, but it's good because I forget about the turbulence.
What is the office? It's the place where one works. Nowadays, for me anyway, it's in an enclosure made up of walls. Walls. How exciting is that? Not very, I'll be honest. But like most things worth working at, you have to give your best. It's that simple. So here's the thing, what really drives you, is what you should do.
I still love writing, about cars... and other things. But more importantly, I love the fact that I can make a greater difference to bring up a team of writers that will be the best that they can be. Full, and stop. Being the best simply means being the best that YOU can be. It really has nothing to do with any form of comparison with someone else. You work at your max, that is the best you can do.
But that is over simplifying it. Because if you are a car... you are screwed. What happens if you were born a Proton Saga? What chance do you have against a "premium" car? The short answer? None. Absolutely none. The only thing you have going for you is that you are cheap. Okay, that does not sound right. Affordable, that is the word. And you are more "popular" than other cars. Because more people buy you than other cars. Sure! They don't have a choice. But since when did that matter?
My point? A Proton doing the best it can is as important as a premium car that cost ten times more than a Proton delivering all it can.
You will note that apart from the vast performance and feel disadvantage, the Proton is significantly cheaper to maintain. So there are pros and cons with everything. But I digress, and at the potential of losing my own argument. Delivering your best means you have maxed out.
Big difference between man and machine? Resolve. Determination. Innovation. You see, what you think is your max, may not be. In fact, I dare say it is very likely not. Man's ability to reach for the stars has allowed us to reach where we are now.
At this writing, I am a few hours away from driving the Mercedes-AMG GT, on the Laguna Seca track. Forget about the car for one moment. How far have we come in terms of car technology and performace? Light years, when compared to the first Model T. Progress. Innovation. Passion. Belief. That is who we really are.
So ask yourself. Are you maxing it out at work? You sure about that?
Now, the car. Chances are, when you read my review, it will be better than the one I drove before. The track, despite my research, will probably be better than all I have read or watched on Youtube.
As humans, unlike cars, our potential is unmatched and we will probably never fully realise it. Like a beam of light, we need to hone it until it is so focussed to the point where it can cut through steel. If you want to compare yourself with someone? Compare you with yourself, because that is the one person who really matter. Don't hold yourself back.
Oh.. the Mercedes-AMG GT? Watch this space.
