The decision whether to extend the moratorium on bauxite mining in Pahang which ends April 15 will be made during the Cabinet meeting next week.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the report on the moratorium has been completed and will be tabled to the Cabinet.
However, Wan Junaidi refused to comment further about the contents of the papers prepared by his ministry.
"I will present the papers to the Cabinet and advice them on the measures that should be taken on the issue," he told reporters after launching the Asia Water Resource 2016 Expo and Forum here, today.
Last week, Wan Junaidi informed that the decision on the three-month moratorium period for bauxite mining activities in Pahang, which began January 15, will be made before April 15.
He said the ministry was monitoring the situation before making a decision on the matter.
He said they have also set several conditions for the industry players to comply with, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at several places, including at port, for transportation and at the mining area.
