Kedah MIC wants all quarters to give their full support to whoever is elected to lead MIC after a fresh election is held, said its chairman Datuk S.Ganesan.
Fully supporting the proposal by MIC president Datuk G.Palavivel yesterday to hold a fresh election, he said the move taken was timely to resolve the crisis faced by the party.
"For our party to return stronger, we have to adhere to the MIC constitution, that is the key actually," he told Bernama here today.
Yesterday Palanivel announced that a fresh election would be held for all posts from various levels in order to resolve the internal party crisis.
In hoping that the polls would be conducted in a transparent manner, Ganesan was also confident they would be matured and wise in their choice to avoid any future dissatisfaction later.
The MIC internal crisis arose after RoS cancelled the election for the post of three vice presidents and 23 central working committee (CWC) members during the MIC general assembly in Melaka in November, 2013.
In a letter dated Dec 5, 2014, RoS ordered MIC to hold a re-election for these posts within 90 days following allegations of irregularities and breach of the party constitution and Societies Act.
