The Defence Ministry is scrutinising a report that a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft was intercepted by Indonesian jet fighters near Natuna Islands on Sunday.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said a C130 RMAF aircraft from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan was intercepted by two Indonesian jet fighters.
"The report has been received but no details. I have close ties with my Indonesian counterpart Ryamizard Ryacudu and will contact him if neccessary," he told reporters after distributing 1,000 'bubur lambuk' to the public at Taman Setiawangsa Ramadan bazaar here Sunday.
Hishammuddin hoped that the incident is not exaggerated to maintain the harmony and good relations between Malaysia and Indonesia.
"Previously, there were incidents involving both countries but we managed to resolve them via diplomacy and military channels," he added.
