A delegate collapsed during the Kuantan Umno Division meeting here today and died in hospital, said Pahang Umno Elections Committee chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Jabbar Ibrahim.
He said Mohamed Ariffin Awang, 69, fainted at 9.20 am and was given emergency aid by medical personnel at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall before being rushed to a specialist hospital.
The delegate, who was a member of the Batu 3 Sungai Isap Umno Branch, died about 40 minutes later, he added.
Mohamed Ariffin was one of the 422 delegates at the Kuantan Umno Division meeting.
Kuantan Deputy OCPD Supt Aziz Ahmad, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
