Despatch rider charged with terrorism-related charges

A despatch rider pleaded not guilty in the High Court here today to two terrorism-related charges.
Fazar Nor Md Reduan, 33, made the plea before Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman.
On the first count, Fazar Nor was charged with giving support to terrorist act involving the use of explosives with intention to further an ideology, as well as threaten public order, through the Telegram application on his handphone.
The offence was allegedly committed at a house unit at Block 11, AU 3/1, Ulu Kelang here between April and June 28 this year.
The charge, under Section 130J(1)(b) of the Penal Code, provides and imprisonment for life, or not more than 30 years, or fine, and is liable to forfeiture of any property used or intended to be used in connection with the commission of the act, if found guilty.
Fazar Nor is also charged with possession of five photographs and eight videos associated with terrorism and the Daish terrorist group in front of Liberty Insurans Berhad, Taman Danau Kota, Off Jalan Genting Klang, here at 1.20 pm on June 28 this year.
The charge, under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, or is liable to forfeiture of any property used or intended to be used in connection with the commission of the act, if found guilty.
The court set Jan 23 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Noor Syazwani Mohamad Sobry prosecuted, while Fazar Nor was unrepresented. -- Bernama
