Developer ordered to clean up drains in Putra Heights

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has ordered the housing developer at Persiaran Putra Bahagia in Putra Heights, to ensure that drains in the surrounding areas were not clogged by mud following the landslide on Thursday.

This was to prevent flash floods if continuous rain occurred in the area, said MPSJ president Datuk Asmawi Kasbi when inspecting clearing work as a result of the landslide that had buried five cars, a van and a motorcycle.

However, there was no loss of life reported.

Asmawi said the developer, Kingsley Hills Sdn Bhd, had stopped temporarily construction work on semi-detached houses, bungalows and condominiums there to enable cleaning work to proceed smoothly.

The main road leading to Persiaran Putra Bahagia is expected to be reopened to traffic on Saturday.

He said the MPSJ would also discuss with the developer on measures to ensure the area was safe as well as the question of compensation for vehicle owners.

"The landslide had entered the retention pond nearby which caused the pond to break. The water and mud mixture had overflowed to the road which is about 20 metres away," he said.

Asmawi said Institut Kerja Raya Malaysia (IKRAM) had been appointed to investigate the cause of the landslide while Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was advised to monitor the area to avoid power disruption as there were power transmission towers located near the site.
