The latest status of Tabung Harapan funds launched by the previous Pakatan Harapan government is among issues that will be raised at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
According to the Order Paper on the Parliament website, the issue which is included in the oral question-and-answer session and raised by Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PAS-Pasir Mas) to the Minister of Finance, concerns the status of the funds collected.
Also expected to be raised in this session is a question from Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun (Bersatu-Beaufort) who wants the Minister of Higher Education to clarify the status of semester tuition fees for students at both public and private institutions of higher learning (IPTA and IPTS) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Azizah also wants to know if the ministry has implemented any initiatives related to the online learning system for tertiary students from rural areas and in need internet access.
Meanwhile, Rubiah Wang (GPS-Kota Samarahan) is scheduled to ask the Minister of Communications and Multimedia about the ministry's latest measures to curb the spread of fake news which can threaten national security and unity.
Also expected to capture the lawmakers' attention is the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) Bill 2020 which will be tabled by the Home Ministry for first reading.
Equally interesting in the sitting today will be the Road Transport (Amendment) Bill 2020 to allow for heavier penalties to be imposed on drunk drivers, which will be tabled for second reading.
The current Dewan Rakyat sitting will last until tomorrow (Aug 27) and is held in a new normal by complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of COVID-19.
