Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is creating history in diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China and not selling off the country, said UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the strategic cooperation between the two countries would have a huge impact, including in the field of economy and trade, for Malaysia.
"The prime minister is with China in implementing the 'One Belt One Road' and 'Maritime Silk Road' initiatives which have an enormous impact on global economy and trade.
"Our country is the earliest to participate in the 'One Belt One Road' and 'Maritime Silk Road' initiatives which are being carried out by a major economic power," he told reporters at the UMNO Information Roadshow at the Kelantan Poverty Foundation complex here tonight.
Najib Friday slammed those who spread rumours to scare Malaysians that Malaysia is being sold off through various business agreements worth over RM143 billion signed with China during his week-long visit to the republic.
Annuar said Najib's efforts to improve Kuala Lumpur-Beijing relations should be welcomed because not many countries had such an opportunity.
"The allegations are baseless. Since when did trading between two countries mean selling off the country?
"Trading between our country and China has been going on for over hundreds of years ... there is no question of selling off the country. Just because we implement specific developments, it does not mean that we are selling off the country," said Anuuar, who is also Ketereh MP. -- BERNAMA
