The Prime Minister's Office has refuted the authenticity of the image of a Tweet supposedly to have come from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on school closures due to the haze.
The PMO, in a statement on its Facebook account PMO Malaysia tonight, said the image (of the Tweet) was false and no directives on the closure of schools due to the haze were issued by the prime minister recently through his Twitter account.
"All parties must stop spreading this false image of the Tweet statement.
This is an act by irresponsible parties and a probe into its origin will be done immediately by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia," the statement said.
The statement said stern action would be taken against those who violate the laws of Malaysia.
The false image depicting the Tweet was posted at 12.03am on Sept 26 quoting the prime minister as saying: "I request the Ministry of Education to close all schools across Malaysia on Monday and Tuesday, due to the haze."
