Disabled man run over by train in Kuala Lipis

A disabled man was killed after he was hit by the Senandung Timuran Express train at Km234 Padang Tengku, Kuala Lipis near here, early this morning.

Lipis District police chief Supt Azry Akmar Ayob said the victim, Shaari Johari, 50, from Kampung Telemin, Padang Tengku, near here, was believed to have been hit the by the train at 6.30am this morning.

"Police was notified by the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) auxiliary police team that the train traveling from Johor Bahru to Tumpat, Kelantan may have hit someone on the track.

"Policemen who arrived at the scene at 9am found the severed body of the disabled man," he told reporters here, today.

Azry Akmar added that the body was taken to the Kuala Lipis Hospital for post-mortem and later claimed by his family. -- BERNAMA
