Discounts will not solve the problem of water pollution - Selangor MB

Its Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the expenditure should be used to prevent pollution activities from happening again.

"It is as if we surrender to destiny that this pollution will happen and every time pollution occurs, we have to pay rebates and so on.

"It also does not stop the fact that people need to collect water every day and it is not paid with such a discount," he said in a press conference at the Selangor State Secretary's Office (SUK), here today.

Commenting further, Amirudin said the Selangor government was also committed in ensuring that enforcement would be tightened in the future.

He further explained that during the period from April to September, the state government and related parties managed to prevent the incident from happening through 24-hour monitoring.

"However, lately, repeated pollution incidents have occurred and it is a rather sad one.

"We need to intensify our control process. If you want to ask what we have been doing all this time, we have 24 hours of control,” he said.
