Do not abuse social media, share provocative content - MCMC

KUALA LUMPUR:Members of the public have been reminded not to abuse social media platforms by uploading or sharing of any form of provocation that can affect public order.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in a statement today said sharing of offensive and menacing content is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“The provision carries a maximum fine of RM50,000 or a jail term not exceeding one year or both,” the statement said.
Those with information on social media abuse are advised to lodge report through MCMC’s portal at https://aduan.skmm.gov.my or via email at [email protected].
