NAJIB: Appreciate and defend the unity achieved so that it would not impact the country negatively.
The unity enjoyed by Malaysians should not be jeopardised by acting according to emotions without thinking about the consequences.
The advice was given by prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who asked the people to appreciate and defend the unity achieved so that it would not impact the country negatively.
"Malaysia is a country where race and religion are not a stumbling block towards national unity.
"However, recently, we were shocked with the incident at Plaza Low Yat which reminded us of the price of unity," said Najib when met during the Aidilfitri Open House held at his official residence at Seri Perdana.
He added that the enthusiastic response from the people to the open house showed the importance of preserving such unity.
Meanwhile, the festive atmosphere at Seri Perdana attracted droves of people to the place where they each got a chance to shake hands with the nation's leaders.
Other than Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, also present were deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, his wife as well as other members of the Cabinet.
