Do not speculate over alleged attempted abduction of preschooler - Police
The public has been advised against making speculations on an incident involving an attempted abduction of a pre-school student in Nilai.
The public has been advised against making speculations on an incident involving a pre-school student of Sekolah Kebangsaan Datuk Abdul Manaf last Thursday.
This followed postings on Facebook linking the incident to an attempted abduction.
Nilai district police chief Supt Zaldino Zaludin said police were investigating the case, but had yet to ascertain the motive in the incident.
"The investigation leads to three possibilities, an attempt to abduct the child, relating to domestic problem where the child's parents are separated and the suspect went to the wrong school," he told a media conference here today.
In the incident on Thursday, a man in his late 20s went to the school and told a teacher that he was the child's uncle and wanted to take the girl home.
The man then went to the girl's classroom, but did not talk to her, and then left the school in a blue BLM Proton Saga car.
"Police investigation found that there were three people in the car, a male senior citizen an adult woman and a child," he added.
The girl's mother, after being informed of the incident, feared for her daughter's safety and lodged a police report.
"Police are taking the case seriously as it involves safety of the school and its students.
"We are tracing the suspect and have distributed a photo fit of him," he added.
He urged witness and those with information on the incident to contact Investigating officer Insp Mohd Tarmizi Said at 017-9000146.
