Do not use COVID-19 as excuse to block efforts to change government - Husam

He said that the efforts (to change government) has to be made to help the people from the effects of COVID-19 and the failure to manage the economy and political instability that has worsened the country’s economy.

"There needs to be a change of leadership to the government given the mandate bythe people, with a progressive, strong, stable leadership and a track record to help the people get out of trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The opinion that says do not change the government because we are facing COVID-19 is not accurate. Because, we want to change to a government that can remove this pandemic effect from the people,” he said in a New Malaysia Dialogue program shared via his Facebook Live.

Husam also explained that Malaysia needs leaders who were willing to consolidate and sacrifice personal interests for the well-being of the people.

He added that Malaysia also needed to use a peaceful political formula with clear principles in an effort to form a new Malaysian nation.

"All parties need to be open-minded and consolidate, for Malaysia to become strong and be able to get out of the socio-economic crisis faced by the people.

"Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders like Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have political character seeking peace, on the contrary Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tends to resort to hostile politics.

"For the stability of Malaysian politics, all parties, including Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, need to work with PH on agreed terms," ​​he added.
