Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called for the individuals implicated in the United States Department of Justice's (DOJ) report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to clear their names.
The Prime Minister also stressed that the individuals named must take responsibility for their actions.
He said, the government strongly holds on to the principle of ensuring that no public funds are misused by any party.
"Which is why when the DOJ report came out, the (Malaysian) Government views it seriously and wants those listed to claim responsibility and clear their names.
"Make sure no public money is misused. This is our principle. Sooner or later we will know the truth. We follow the course of justice that is carried out," he said in his speech at a Yayasan 1MDB event at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin mosque here today.
On July 20, US Attorney-General Loretta Lynch had said that the DOJ was proceeding legal action to seize more than US$1billion (RM4billion) in assets, including several high-end properties, renowned artworks and a business jet.
She had claimed that the assets were purchased by using funds stolen from 1MDB.
The state investment fund, however, had subsequently denied owning assets in the US and claimed it was not a party to the civil suit brought by the US government.
