The supply of essential goods in the country is sufficient and easy to obtain, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He also advised the public not to worry as the government was always working to ensure there were no short-term and long-term supply problems.
He explained that the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has been monitoring the supply of essential goods regularly.
"Yesterday (May 31), KPDNHEP enforcement officers conducted daily monitoring of 25 types of supply at 775 business premises including retailers (626), wholesalers (124) and manufacturers (25).
"The monitoring found that the supply of essential goods are adequate and able to meet the needs of the country in a continuous and accessible manner," he told a press conference here on Monday.
In addition, Ismail Sabri said, an inspection of 2,063 premises found that 1,884 of the owners complied with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) while 163 premises were advised and warned (16).
"Once again I would like to advise the public and business people to practise social distancing and hygiene especially during the sale and purchase activities," he added.
