Double-parked cars rammed into at JDT-PDRM match

The vehicles were parked alongside the Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh Highway (SPA). The incident occurred around 10pm outside the Hang Jebat Stadium, shortly after the second half of the match had just started.

Melaka Tengah district police chief, ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah said, it is believed the incident happened because the cars were double-parked along the highway, thus narrowing the road for other road users.

"As of now, we could see some 15 cars being affected in the incident. But we are still awaiting for the vehicle owners to lodge reports," he said when met here last night.

He said the match had attracted at unexpected turnout of more than 30,000 people. Due to lack of parking space, the fans had resorted to double-parking along the highway.

Shaikh Abdul Adzis said investigations were still ongoing, including identifying the trailer responsible for the incident.

He said those with information on the incident were encouraged to come forward to give their statements at the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, one of the victims, Ahmad Razimin Mohd Taib, said he was shocked to see his vehicle horribly damaged as he exited the stadium after the game ended.

“I’m a Malaccan, from Ayer Keroh but I came to support JDT. I didn’t expect my night to be ending like this!” the 22-year-old said.
