KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 555,288 individuals have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccine under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme as of yesterday (May 1), said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said that, as of yesterday, 898,094 individuals had received the first dose, bringing the total number of vaccine shots administered in the country to 1,453,382.
Based on an infographic shared on his Twitter account, Dr Adham said that the five states with the highest number of recipients administered with the first dose of vaccine were Selangor at 120,749 people, followed by Sarawak (92,292), Kuala Lumpur (90,611), Johor (78,716) and Sabah (74,740).
He said that the five states with the highest number of recipients who had completed the two doses of COVID-19 vaccine were Selangor at 74,962 people, followed by Sarawak (57,812), Sabah (52,557), Perak (51,918) and Kuala Lumpur (51,615).
As of yesterday, only 38.90 per cent, or 9,447,232 of the people targeted have registered for vaccination, with Selangor recording the highest number at 2,450,363 registrants, which is 50.60 per cent.
ADHAM-VACCINE 2 (LAST) KUALA LUMPUR
The first phase of the immunisation programme, from February to April, involved about 500,000 frontliners, mainly healthcare workers.
The second phase, from April to August this year, will involve 9.4 million senior citizens, as well as vulnerable groups with morbidity problems and persons with disabilities.
The third phase, scheduled for May to February 2022, is for individuals aged 18 and above, targeting more than 13.7 million people.
