Dr M: Why Anwar, not Hadi or Karpal for PM?

Why Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim?
That is the question raised by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's as he is baffled to why DAP insists Anwar should be made PM if the opposition pact made their way to Putrajaya.
Mahathir was responding to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's statement that it has always been the consensus of the opposition parties to allow Anwar to lead the country if the they won the next general elections.
"Why don't DAP suggest their own (chairman) Karpal Singh or (Pas president) Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as they had fought for so long as opposition leaders?" asked Mahathir.
"DAP thinks it can control Anwar Ibrahim but it is clear that they are only supporting Anwar to gain support from the Malays," he added.
The nation's longest serving Prime Minister also said that the suggestions made by certain quarters that Abdul Hadi should be made PM is evident that there is an "infighting" among the opposition parties even before they ain
He also said the suggestion by a PAS delegate to have Hadi as Prime Minister shows that there is infighting among themselves even before they gain power.
Delegate, Hairun Nizam, from the PAS Ulama Council had during the 58th Muktamar (annual assembly) on Saturday suggested the party promote Abdul Hadi as the best candidate for the prime minister's post if the opposition won the next general election.
Hairun added Abdul Hadi should be the Prime Minister as he has the best Islamic qualifications among the opposition leaders.
Tun Mahathir was speaking to reporters after launching a fund to assist the Palestinians in Gaza. The event is organised by the Perdana Global Peace Foundation.
The former premier also questioned Anwar's stand on Gaza as he seemed to be supporting Israel as he supported George Soros during the financial crisis when he was in cabinet.
