TANGKAK: Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's struggle knows no end and that is what motivated him to go to the ground to campaign in the Johor state election, said Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Mukhriz said his father had sought advice from medical experts at the National Heart Institute (IJN) before deciding to join the election campaign.
He said the 97-year-old former prime minister was also a doctor who was well aware of his health status.
"We are being careful due to his age and his recent recovery from treatment at IJN, (he is) not 100 per cent well yet and now with COVID-19 pandemic, older people are most at risk.
"When we asked him (Dr Mahathir) why he really wanted to take part in the campaign, he said his struggle knew no end," Mukhriz said after a walkabout at the Tangkak Public Market here today.
He said Dr Mahathir also wanted Johor voters to understand the direction and struggle of Pejuang not just by issuing letters and statements.
Polling is on March 12 and early voting is on March 8.
