The MACC emphasises that the investigation on SRC International is still going on. As such, the issue on the draft charge sheet on the ongoing case does not arise.
The existence of a purported charge against prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is unfounded because the investigation on SRC International Sdn Bhd is still going on, said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC).
In a statement released today, the commission said the investigation papers on the company had yet to be sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
"The MACC emphasises that the investigation on SRC International is still going on. As such, the issue on the draft charge sheet on the ongoing case does not arise.
"As stated in the media statement dated July 30, 2015, the MACC is still tracking down key witnesses to complete the investigation on the SRC International Sdn Bhd issue," the statement added.
Earlier, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali denied the existence of the draft while Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police would carry out an investigation of the Sarawak Report news portal on suspicion of spreading false information.
Meanwhile, the MACC said information on the outcome of the investigation will not be revealed to anyone as this was against the law.
In addition, it also reminded the public that its responsibility in carrying out investigation on any corruption case was not aimed at bringing anyone down, including the government.
"As an independent commission, the MACC will carry out investigation independently, and in a transparent and professional manner," the statement added.
