Drug syndicate busted, 80.1 kg heroin seized

Police busted an international drug syndicate and seized 80.1kg heroin worth RM3.2 million with the arrest of eight Nigerians and three Mongolians on Jan 26.
All eight Nigerians were men while the three Mongolians comprised a man and two women.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the heroin was in the shape of dates and smuggled into the country from Pakistan, by sea.
Speaking to reporters here, today, Noor Rashid said the suspects were detained after carrying out raids in Subang Jaya, Damansara and Puchong.
"During a 1.30am raid at a condominium in SS12/1, Subang, a Mongolian woman was detained 78.76kg heroin was seized. In a follow up operation, a Mongolian couple were detained at a house in SS15/2, Subang Jaya and 1.22kg heroin was seized," said Noor Rashid.
In subsequent raids, four Nigerians were detained in Puchong and another four Nigerians were detained in Damansara and an undisclosed amount of drugs seized, he said.
"Among the suspects who are aged between 21 and 38, seven had multiple entry visas to pursue their education at a Higher Learning Institution in Malaysia," said Noor Rashid.
The syndicate is believed to have used the Mongolian woman as a drug mule for the activities.
"The seizure was due to a close cooperation and information sharing by the Pakistan customs," he said.
