DUKE accident: Probe nearly 90 per cent completed - Police

Investigation into the accident involving three fatalities at the Duke Expressway here early last Saturday is 90 per cent completed, said Bukit Aman police traffic chief Datuk Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff.

He said the investigation was being conducted from various aspects by taking into consideration how the accident occurred and identifying several individuals who caused it.

Acccording to him, the involvement of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) in the police investigation was unneccessary as its role was to conduct investigations in road safety aspects.

"I am compelled to refer to the statement by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi who had said many had disputed the accident between the Perodua MyVi vehicle and Pajero Sports four-wheel drive vehicle that day.

"I wish to clarify that generally the social media only questioned on the racing that allegedly took place resulting in the fatal accident," he said in a statement here today.

Hence he hoped the public would not made any statements which could cause negative speculations that might give rise to public dissatisfaction towards the police.

Yesterday Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said Miros would cooperate with the police to help investigations on the crash at the Duke Expressway.

In the 1.05 am incident, a married couple and their baby girl, aged seven months, were killed in the accident involving three vechicles at Km 6.2, Duke Expressway heading from Ulu Klang towards Jalan Duta.

They were Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 25, and their baby Nur Firuza Annisa.
