KUALA LUMPUR: A woman who allegedly insulted Islam at a comedy club in Taman Tun Dr Ismail will be charged at the Sessions (Cyber) Court here tomorrow.
Royal Malaysian Police Secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the investigation paper on the case has been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers today.
"The police have received instructions to charge the woman under Section 298A of the Penal Code (for causing disharmony, disunity, and hatred on grounds of religion).
"Her remand period that ended today will be extended till tomorrow," she said in a statement today.
Her boyfriend will also be charged tomorrow under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network services.
The man had been remanded for three days, from July 11 till 13.
A 54-second video depicting the woman wearing a hijab and baju kurung doing her routine, in which she claimed to have memorised 15 juz (parts) of the Quran and then stripped to reveal herself in a skimpy outfit, followed by cheering and laughter from the crowd, had gone viral previously.
